September 3, 2023

Just as I always do in my hotel reviews, in this The Crockett Hotel San Antonio Texas guide, I'll take a closer look at the hotel's amenities, rooms, and service, and provide some pros and cons to help you decide if it's the right choice for your next trip to San Antonio. The Crockett Hotel in San Antonio Texas is a charming and historic hotel located in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Its prime location, just a stone's throw away from the River Walk and Alamo Plaza, makes it one of the best hotels in San Antonio Downtown for travelers looking to explore the best of the city.

The Crockett Hotel San Antonio Texas Review - Property Amenities: Crockett Hotel Features

Images of hotel facilities

The San Antonio Crockett Hotel is a full-service hotel with plenty of amenities that made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Some of the features that I was able to explore include:

Outdoor Pool: The hotel boasts a sparkling outdoor pool where I was able to cool off on hot Texas days.

Fitness Center: Nothing like being able to keep up with my workout routine in the hotel's fitness center.

Valet Parking: If you're like me and arriving by car, take advantage of the convenient valet parking service.

Room Service: I had the opportunity to enjoy a meal in the comfort of my own room with the hotel's room service.

Laundry: If you have lots of clothing and you need to do some laundry during your stay, the hotel offers laundry service for a fee.

Alamo Plaza Coffee Bar: Unlike Hampton Inn San Antonio Downtown Texas ( not to be mistaken for the Hampton Inn & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk) and many other hotels in the area, The Crockett Hotel doesn't offer free breakfast. However, If you are staying there, I recommend grabbing a cup of coffee or a quick bite at the grab and go café, located inside the Crockett Hotel just off the atrium lobby.

Other amenities include: 24-hour front desk that always greet guests, Luggage storage, Multilingual staff and Porter/bellhop

Rooms: Superior Queen Room, Deluxe King Room, Standard and Family Room

When I came to the hotel, I was provided with a brochure and I was able to see all the room options. The Crockett Hotel offers a variety of room options to suit different needs and budgets, though none of them comes with a fully equipped kitchen like in the Candlewood Suites San Antonio Lackland AFB Area which is more suitable for longer stays.

All rooms come with free WiFi, individually wrapped food options, and roll-in showers upon request. Extra beds for children are available for a fee. Here's a quick overview of the room types available:

  • Superior Queen Room: This room features a queen-size bed, flat-screen TV, and air conditioning.

  • Deluxe King Room: This deluxe room is slightly larger and features a king-size bed, TV, and air conditioning.

  • Standard Room: This room is the most affordable option and features either a queen-size or king-size bed, TV, and air conditioning.

  • Family Rooms: For larger groups or families, the hotel offers rooms with two queen-size beds or one king-size bed and a sofa bed.

  • Children and extra beds: Children are welcome. Children up to the age of 17 years can stay for free if using existing beds when occupying the parent or guardian's room. Rollaway/extra beds are available for USD 20 per stay. Free cribs are available on request at the property.

Location: Hotel located in the Perfect Location

For me, one of the biggest selling points of the Crockett Hotel is its very convenient location. Situated in the heart of downtown San Antonio, it's within walking distance of the city's top attractions, including the River Walk, Alamo Plaza, and the San Antonio Station. The hotel is also conveniently located just 15 minutes from the San Antonio International Airport.

  • No free breakfast: Unlike some other hotels in the area, the Crockett Hotel does not offer free breakfast.

Final Words

If you don't need property features such as swimming pool or a fitness center, you can stay in a more affordable hotel in San Antonio Downtown

However, In my opinion, the Crockett Hotel is a great choice for travelers looking for a charming and historic hotel in a central location. While there are some minor downsides, such as the requirement for cash and limited dining options, the hotel's prime location and range of amenities with helpful staff and front desk make it a top pick for those visiting San Antonio.
